Holga Roll 11: Yuba River Part 1

I still haven't gotten around to editing all of the recent photos I've taken with my Canon.  Summer is keeping me busy which is just fine with me!  But until I get around to some much needed sorting and editing (hopefully later this week), here are photos from my 11th roll of film taken on my Holga:

This was a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 (my last couple rolls have been Kodak Porta 400).  It happened to be the only roll I had left but I think it ended up being well suited for the subject.  All these photos were taken on our recent trip to Tahoe. This was the first time I've used ISO 100 film on my Holga.  It's nice to know that I can (as long as I switch the exposure to overcast and use it in bright conditions).

Frames 12 and 11 - Spring!

This roll of film was especially leaky.  I'm not sure if it has to do with my method of carrying my Holga (my method being throwing it in the bottom of my over-sized tote along with the rest of the things I carry), how I'm loading and unloading it, the fact that this roll was mostly shot in very bright light or a combination of all three, but I'm liking it.  You can't get these light leaks on your iPhone people! (Okay, you kind of can).

Holga Roll 6

I started this roll in Winthrop and finished it in Santa Cruz.  It's my first roll of Kodak Porta 400 (a stocking stuffer from C).  I can already tell this film has character--it brings something to a photo that my Fugi film just didn't.  Most of these frames weren't shot in very ideal lighting conditions (i.e. it was overcast out or nearly dusk) so I'm excited to see what this film can do on a bright, sunny, Santa Cruz day.

Frame 12 is my favorite.  A couple of days after I took this photo, all of the branches were lopped off of the trees overhead.  Less of a mess, I guess.  This sequence of events may have colored my perception of the photo a bit.  Now it's not just a photo of leaves to me--it's a reminder of the days when the sidewalk was covered in rainbows (and the trees didn't look so sad).
